Weight Loss Pill Scam

Hello lovelies, so this is sort of an unorthodox post for me to do but I felt like it needed to be done. These past few days I have had an actual nightmare with something and I felt a need to share with you guys so none of you go through the same situation. Please please read this if you feel like this is something you would pay for, because i'm sure this isn't the only company out there!

So I first saw this on Facebook and people had apparently been raving about it saying how much weight they lost and it then went onto a link from 'Woman's Health' which looked amazing and as it seemed it was on a legitimate website I thought why not try the free trial? The only thing you needed to pay for was £4.95 for postage which seemed like a bargain so I went ahead and ordered it and it all seemed really good and the product arrived very promptly.

However, 13 days later I woke up to two emails saying my order had been confirmed for two bottles of the pill at £69.95 EACH. As a student who struggles with money anyway I just wanted to burst out into tears, I automatically got onto my laptop and looked at their website for their contact details. I called them once and no answer, I tried again and this guy picked up. He did not speak English very well and I was struggling to understand him as I tried to get my point across. He basically told me there was nothing that he could do and when I kept trying to ask about my money he ignored me for about a minute and forced me to hang up.

I then tried to send emails and the emails just bounced back to me so it obviously wasn't a legitimate email. Because the money had yet to come out of my account I hoped maybe that call got through to him and they wouldn't take out the £140. This was however not the case, 2 days later my account was indeed 140 pounds short!

My bank, HSBC, luckily were my heros and I managed to claim my money back and they were to deal with them and my dad is also amazing as he spoke to them and threatened to take it further and even legal action so they actually listened to him. So my nightmare is over, but others have not been so lucky and not taken action as quickly as I did.

So what is the scam you ask? When you sign up for the free trial, it doesn't state anywhere about signing up for a subscription however thats what they do. Every 30 days they charge you £69.95 for each bottle you ordered if you do not cancel this subscription within 14 days, however as far as anyone is aware all you are paying for is the free trial and postage.

They state this in their terms and conditions which is hidden somewhere in their website, not easy to find! so it is easily missed by a lot of people. My bank actually said they have been dealing with this company for 2 years.

In regards to if the pills actually work, after this traumatic experience I have not tried them for long enough to actually see results and if this is something you are actually interested in seeing I will try them for you guys, but at the moment I have fallen out with the bottles and I think they will be pushed to the back of the cupboard for now.

I felt the need to post this and share my experiences with you guys so you don't do the same thing as me! Fortunately I got mine resolved but I know a lot of people struggled to and like myself £140 can make a lot of difference!

Life lesson: read the terms and conditions guys, when its something new and unknown!

December Favourties

Hello lovelies, today I thought instead of boring you with every single thing I got for Christmas I would just do a favourites post with some of the things I go this month. It was incredibly hard to choose as I got so many amazing things this year. I actually don't think i've ever had as much!

So I managed to choose 7 things for this months favourites out of all of the amazing things I got this year. I've got quite a big mix into what I've got this month and some are a little random.

First, my beloved Michael Kors watch. I actually had no idea I was getting this at all. I literally mentioned it to my dad in a passing comment. I hadn't even looked myself into which one i'd really love but they chose well because it is very me. I do really like the big ones but now I have this one it is just so much more suited to me.

It is beautiful. And I am still not used to watches that tell you the date and day and everything, never had a fancy watch before. It's pretty cool.

Next, and this was a total shock too. This was a present from work! All 13 of us got Chanel perfume. I was amazed but it is fast becoming my favourite smell in the world. I'd never had chanel before, or even smelt this one so I feel so lucky to have got this from work when my friends have been like, I got a tub of celebrations.

These next two are a little different. The first one my boyfriend got me which is the Friends DVDs. We actually started watching them together as I (Don't hurt me) have never actually seen friends all the way through. We watched them online and it got a bit of a pain so one of the presents he got me was the whole box set, which I am loving.

The next is the cutest thing I have ever seen. Its a little Macbook Air pocket mirror! Its honestly such a perfect copy but just mini and its a mirror!
Best Invention ever! My mum got me this one because she knows I love cute little things.

My mum also got me this too, it's a book with '500 words you should know'. Now my friends already joke about how I speak with big fancy words so this book is perfect to give them a bit more to joke about. Plus with me doing a Journalism degree it's always good to know big words. I'll give you some examples:

Rejoinder

A reply that is especially sharp and witty. 'The dazzling rejoinder I should have made came to me half an hour later, long after I put the phone down'

Eschew

Nothing to do with chewing, this is instead connected with shy in the sense of 'to shy away from'. It means to avoid, to abstain from: you might eschew chocolate for lent.

Hope you guys learnt some new words there, if you knew either of those I am totally stunned.

Also in that picture were the Ted Baker lipsticks I received. I actually got three in the pack, but I left one at Uni. Whoops. The colours you get in the pack are actually lovely, you get a red, a pink and a nude. All are equally as lovely.

And best till last - My very first Tiffany necklace! (Or Tiffany anything) This is the other present my boyfriend treated me too, and I love it. He knew I needed a necklace to wear everyday, nothing majorly big or too statement. And this is perfect.

He did very well. I wouldn't have even thought about Tiffany (other than for engagement rings, obviously)

I have been ridiculously spoilt last month, I hope you all have been too! Let me know what your favourite Christmas present of 2014 was.

Blogmas: Day 10!

As if it is the 10th of December already! Time is flying by, and I am not too far behind on my Christmas shopping this year, but this post is about my Christmas wishlist for this year.

First, and I know I am pushing my luck a bit here - but it is a Michael Kors watch. I got a bag for my birthday and I just think everything about the brand is beautiful.

Next is a gel nail kit, basically instead of spending about 20 pounds every time I want to get my nails done, I get this and it will work out so much cheaper. Now for my job we have to have our nails painted and looking nice but if I just used normal nail varnish it would chip it about 10 minutes, so this will be perfect and will save me sooo much money!

I am also in desperate need of some new winter boots, my trusty chelsea boots have recently failed me and have started to have a little hole in the bottom so I really need some flat (ish) chelsea boots of some kind! Boohoo is somewhere that never disappoints.

And just for some little stocking filler kind of things, I've been wanting a yankee candle car jar for my car since i've got him now so hopefully Christmas will be good to me.

I also really enjoy just getting little wintery bits and bobs that can be useful, like hats and scarfs and stuff. My mum is usually quite good at getting those little bits so thats about it really for this year!

Let me know what you guys have been pining for over the Christmas season and what is on your wishlists!

Blogmas: Day 9!

Pictures of where you live

I've done this day a little earlier because I was home for a few days from University and when the post did pop up I would still be at Universtiy. I went on a little walk with my dogs and this is just a little bit of the village I live in up in the Lake District, I promise if it snows there will be loads more!

View from my front door

If you look extra close, you can see my little car parked.

 My two perfect little pups

I tried really hard to get the snowy fells in the background, and kind of failed.. but look close and you may see them!

Just a snippet into my tiny little village that I call home, I can't wait for it to snow and look even more magical! (fingers crossed it does this year!!)

Blogmas: Day 8!

So tonight I baked some Christmas cookies for a bit of fun and something for the family to all do together. Thought I would share with you guys how easy and simple it to do and cheap also!

You will need:

  • 250g butter, softened
  • 140g caster sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 300g plain flour
  • stuff to decorate the cookies

First grab a large mixing bowl and a wooden spoon - then mix together the butter and sugar until it looks a little something like this.

Then add the egg yolk and vanilla extract

Stir all this in until it is mixed in well. Also while doing this make sure the oven is preheated to about 170C.

Then you slowly sieve the flour into the mixture and this is where you can get your hands a little messy too, making sure its all blended in nicely.

Then make sure you have a nice clean surface to roll out the dough, using a rolling pin or whatever you desire roll it out.. use plenty of flour if you need to because mine was still quite sticky.
Then cut out the shapes and place them on some greaseproof paper on a baking tray.

Think the batch I made was big enough for about 3 trays full of biscuits, and shove them in the oven. It suggests that you put them in for 15 minutes but the most important bit is to keep an eye on them because mine were done in about 11.

Wait for them to cool - and now for the fun bit..

Now I am no baker, and I just did this for a few giggles tonight with my family - so the decorating may not be amazing but its more about the fun.

And there you have a really fun and cheap way to have a good night in with your family being all festive.

Blogmas: Day 7

Hello lovelies, I do apologise for not posting a blogmas yesterday, but today you can get two! Plus another blog post entirely, Zoella's book review. So I think i've made up for being rubbish yesterday, sorry guys.

So first of all, if some of you are doing the same blogmas as me and think, hold on - thats not the right day! You will be right. I've had to mix them up a little bit because I want to do some cute DIYs with you guys but I didn't have all the stuff for it when it needed to be posted.. but that will be coming soon, I promise.

Winter items I couldn't live without

  • First one would have to be my microwavable teddy.
He is like a cute cuddly hot water bottle, you basically take his little tummy out and its like a bean bag kind of thing and then heat that up in the microwave and then pop it back in and hes nice and toasty to cuddle with. Mine is exactly like this little elephant here and his name is Alfredo, but you can get them in all different shapes and sizes.

  • Next would have to be a winter jumper
You always need something super warm and cosy in these cold
December months, and why not make it festive too? A good winter jumper never fails to make people happy. I think its worth every penny, whether you spend that at Primark or Hollister, as long as it makes you happy.

  • Something to keep my lips in check
Obviously these cold days see our lips in not very good shape with the bitter cold making them dry and horrible, I always need to have something in my bag to make sure they stay nice and moisturized. I've mentioned this before in my posts but I am still loving my mint EOS lip balm, its so handy to keep in your bag and make your lips feel great after using it.

  • Hot Drinks
It is important this kind of year to keep nice and warm and what better way to do this than with festive drinks - Hot chocolate and mulled wine being my personal favourites.

I wish we could drink mulled wine all year round, but it makes it extra special when we can during Christmas.

  • And lastly, I know its not technically an item - But an open fire, lots of candles and fairy lights

Feeling cosy at Winter is super important to me, I want to get home and instantly feel warm and cosy inside, so I love loads of candles and fairy lights and a nice fire to feel amazingly wintery.

Once again I apologise for my not posting yesterday - What item can you not live without this season? Hope you are all feeling more festive every day!
